Ahsan Iqbal urges upon Pakistani American community to play proactive role in promoting positive image of the country

Islamabad, February 29, 2016 (PPI-OT):Federal Minister Planning, Development and Reform Ahsan Iqbal has urged upon Pakistani American community to play a proactive role in promoting positive image of Pakistan as the country is coming out of the shadows of the past economic and security challenges. He was addressing a gathering of Pakistani American community and PML-N USA in New York.

Ahsan Iqbal urged upon them to take active part in local community welfare programs and take part in US democratic system to promote understanding between US and Pakistan. They must contribute back home by building class rooms, computer labs or hospital facilities in native areas to contribute in development of Pakistan.

Minister Planning and Development stated,” Government of Pakistan is engaging US Government to train 10,000 PhDs in top US universities to develop critical mass of human resource for building knowledge economy in Pakistan. He also apprised them about Government of Pakistan’s efforts to develop modern infrastructure in the country for greater regional integration. He described China Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) a game changer initiative which will bring prosperity and progress to our people.

Minister also apprised them about efforts being made to overcome energy shortage in the country and said that these efforts reduced the load shedding significantly during the last two years. On security front, he pointed out visible improvement has been made in width and breadth of the country and particularly mentioned the improved law and order situation in country’s financial hub Karachi.

About Pakistan-USA Strategic Dialogue, Ahsan Iqbal said that Pakistan is seeking increased cooperation from USA in education sector in Pak-US strategic dialogue framework. He also spoke on Vision-2025 and said that this roadmap is aimed at sustained and inclusive growth to take the country into top twenty five economies of the world by 2025.
