Ahsan Iqbal meets United Nations Development Programme Administrator

Islamabad, February 26, 2016 (PPI-OT): Federal Minister Planning, Development and Reform Ahsan Iqbal met Ms. Helen Clark, Administrator of UNDP and former Prime Minister of New Zealand in UN Headquarters in New York. He discussed with UNDP Administrator ‘Pakistan and UNDP’ partnership in policy reforms, environment, climate change, disaster risk reduction and management and democratic governance.

Ahsan Iqbal also shared with her Pakistan’s initiatives on Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). He highlighted the initiatives Pakistan took to implement SDGs and said that Pakistan is the first country in the world to localize SDGs through adoption of unanimous resolution in National Assembly of Pakistan.

Ms. Hellen appreciated the efforts of Pakistan to localize and implement SDGs. She proposed that development partnership with the host countries should be further strengthened through policy boards with planning and development ministries. Ahsan Iqbal also shared with UNDP Administrator youth engagement initiatives of Pakistan in development sector.
