SANYA, China, April 7, 2020 /Xinhua-AsiaNet/– On the morning of April 2, Ye Kaizhong, Deputy Secretary General of the Organizing Committee of the 6th Asian Beach Games 2020 (ABG) and Deputy Secretary General of Sanya Municipal Government, visited the representatives of the first and fourth groups of the medical and nursing staff back to Hainan from Hubei, on behalf of the Organizing Committee. The 248 heroes who have fought COVID-19 are on vacation together in Sanya. Mr. Ye expressed cordial greetings to them, and gave them each a Yaya doll, the ABG mascot.
These two groups of 248 medical workers went to Jingzhou City, Hubei Province, to work closely and fought side by side with local medical institutions. A total of 344 infected patients were cured with their medical care. During their stay, none of the members were infected. On March 20, they started a vacation there, arranged by the CPC Hainan Provincial Committee and Hainan Provincial Government. As they were about to end their vacation, the ABG Organization Committee sent their best wishes to these anti-epidemic heroes in a special way by presenting Yaya dolls.
During the visit, the representatives of the medical staff held Yaya in their hands, showing their fondness of the dolls by waving Yaya together and voicing the slogan “See Ya in Sanya”.
ABG is the first intercontinental comprehensive sports event to be held in Hainan Province. During the novel coronavirus outbreak, the Organization Committee attached equal importance to the prevention and control of the epidemic as well as the preparations for the games. At the same time, leveraging its role in the ABG, the Organization Committee has organized businesses to donate medical supplies, branding an energetic and healthy ABG.
