A six member delegation of Pakistan Soap Manufacturers Association visits Federation of Pakistan Chambers of Commerce and Industry’s Head Office

Karachi, February 16, 2015 (PPI-OT): A 06 member delegation of Pakistan Soap Manufacturers Association visited FPCCI Head Office under the leadership of their Chairman M. Manzoor Hussain to meet Mian M. Idrees, President FPCCI to discuss various issues pertaining to their business. The meeting was also attended by Ikram Rajput, Vice Presidents of FPCC and I along with Engr. Daroo Khan.

M. Manzoor Hussain congratulated newly elected President of FPCC and I and assured him full support from soap industry. He discussed problems faced to soap industry, mainly the misdeclaration and under invoicing of imported Toilet Soap, tax rate, hurdles in soap export, higher cost of utilities and energy crises etc.

He highlighted few important points to flourish local soap industry. The custom duties of soap raw materials are at higher side, especially duty of PFAD HS Code 3823-1910 is 15%, it must be reduced to 10%.

Mian M. Idrees said we know that all industries are at present facing numerous problems including acute shortage and load shedding of Gas and Electricity. We are trying our best by contacting with the relevant departments. On Pak Afghan Transit Trade, he said that we are doing its exercise by contacting with the relevant Government officials. He explained at length the issue of Afghan Transit Trade, how it is causing loss to National exchequer.

Mian M. Idrees said that FPCCI will play vital role in enhancing the industrial trade and economic activities of Pakistan. He said that the Prime Minister Mian M. Nawaz Sharif has expressed his confidence over the new management of FPCC and I and tasked them to devise the strategy for economic revival of the country during 2015. He further said that the FPCC and I will closely work with its member bodies and will provide them all possible assistance, cooperation and guidance in resolving their trade related issues with the government and other concerned agencies as well.

The President FPCCI further said that the Prime Minister Mian M. Nawaz Sharif has given him task to formulate comprehensive suggestions for the promotion of exports and inflow of Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) in addition to sector-wise steps to be taken to give a quantum jump to the national economy. He further said that he has requested the Prime Minister to declare 2015 as ‘Year of Economic Revival’ and FPCCI is working on the modalities of economic revival both for short terms and on long term basis.

Mian M. Idrees, President FPCCI, Ikram Rajput, Vice Presidents of FPCCI and Engr. Daroo Khan assured their full support and cooperation in raising voice in the concerned quarters to resolve the issues of PSMA.
