4th Karachi Advertising Festival held

Karachi, April 01, 2014 (PPI-OT): 4th Karachi Advertising Festival recently held at Mohammad Ali Jinnah University with fifteen events comprised of five days from March 22 – March 27, 2014. Festival was comprised of special training sessions, workshops, exhibitions, panel discussion and seminars. Kamran Jawaid (Business Faculty of Mohammad Ali Jinnah University and Founder of Karachi Advertising Festival) briefed the nature of festival that like film festival different countries has advertising festival, which is comprised of multiple academic and learning base events on academic platforms like universities and colleges.

He more elaborated that his team is the pioneer for having the initiate of advertising festival in Pakistan in 2010 and till today Karachi Advertising Festival is now having for consecutive four years and received eight awards including Pakistan’s highest marketing award “Consumer Choice Awards” in 2013 and now also nominated for “Consumer Choice Awards” to be held in 2014. Kamran Jawaid also expressed that now Karachi Advertising Festival is strategic supported by International Advertising Association (New York) facilitated by Pakistan Chapter.

Like every festival’s distinct theme, this year 4th Karachi Advertising Festival is based on the theme of “CSR in Advertising” with a slogan of “AtayHain Jo KamDosroonKe”. Festival was started with Day One Training Workshop byNargisLatif, Founder of GulbahaoFoundation, she briefed the students about the recycling of dry plastic waste by Gulbahao Foundation for the creation of temporary homes for victims of natural disaster areas. Another training session was conducted by UzhairAusaf, Professional Trainer of School of Leadership on the topic of Career Development.

Day Two was comprised of practical workshop on the construction of Silver Houses by the students of Mohammad Ali Jinnah University under the supervision of Ms. NargisLatif. Due to theme, festival management invited leading NGOs to the festival and day two was welcomed Essa Laboratory for their work displays along with the exclusive food displays by the student under the title of Khappa.

Day three of the festival was comprised of Mega Events, has been inaugurated by Dr. Abdul Wahab (President, Mohammad Ali Jinnah University). He expressed that such events needs to be in continuation and students should aware by the need of CSR activities by implications in marketing and advertising themes. Day three was started with mega exhibition with international and national NGOs like WWF, Make a Wish Foundation, Pray for Peace, Yes We Do Care, Pakistan Deaf Foundation, Pakistan Association for Deaf and Gulbahao Foundation.

Students of Mohammad Ali Jinnah University also display their Creative CSR Displays and evaluated by Dr. Abdul Wahab. Exhibition was entertained by the excusive mini food street setup of Khappa and visitors were also attended the exclusive red carpet premier show of documentary “AtayHain Jo KamDosroonKe”, produced and directed by Kamran Jawaid. Documentary was based on the international and national case studies and evaluations about the brand propagation with CSR themes in advertisements. Documentary was acclaimed by the attendees and auditorium was echoed with clapping.

The mega panel discussion was held on day three with leading panelists including Kaukab Iqbal (Chairman, Consumer Association of Pakistan), IshtiaqBaig (Chairman, Make a Wish Foundation), AteequrRehman (Advisor, Karachi Chamber of Commerce and Industry), NargisLatif (Founder, Gulbahao Foundation), Najia Khan (Founder, Yes We Do Care) with Advertising Faculties of Mohammad Ali Jinnah University including Abdul Wahab Khan, ShahidInayat, KhurramNasarullah Khan and Kamran Jawaid. The panel discussion was moderated by RafiaAwan (MAJU Student and National Debater Champion of Pakistan).

Panel Discussion discussed that CSR projection is required but with having spiritual element instead of being marketing oriented. Day three was concluded with the distribution of appreciation awards to all the panelists and position holders of Creative CSR Display Exhibition.

Day four was comprised of exclusive training session by SaadSaleem, Founder of Galaxy of Leaders on the topic of youth motivation and Day five conclude the festival with a short seminar on CSR with Ms. Aliya Burney (Director, Sarim Burney Trust) and Ubaid Usmani (Director, Pfizer). Aliya Burney showed her concerned on the increasing human trafficking and ignorance towards this issue in Pakistan.

Kamran Jawaid thanked to his co-organizer of the festival Abdul Wahab Khan (Business Faculty, Mohammad Ali Jinnah University) for his dedication and creative ideas. The Award of Karachi Advertising Festival was designed by Abdul Wahab Khan with fallen leaves and marble scrap and received acclaimed response from the award recipients.
