National Bank of Pakistan won 2nd Chief of the Naval Staff All Pakistan Hockey Tournament 2018

Islamabad, October 07, 2018 (PPI-OT): The 2nd Chief of the Naval Staff All Pakistan Hockey Tournament was held at National Hockey Stadium (NHS) Lahore from 1-7 Oct 18. 08 top national teams competed for the title including WAPDA, NBP, SNGPL, SSGC, PN, PAF, Punjab Police and PQA. The final of the championship was played between National Bank of Pakistan and WAPDA. After a sensational match National Bank of Pakistan won the laurels, whereas, WAPDA and SNGPL secured 2nd and 3rd positions respectively.

Vice Admiral Kaleem Shaukat, Vice Chief of Naval Staff graced the occasion as Chief guest of the closing ceremony held at National Hockey Stadium (NHS) Lahore and distributed trophies and medals among the winner teams. National Bank of Pakistan received a cash prize of Rs 0.5 M for winning the championship.

WAPDA and SNGPL won Rs 0.3 M and 0.2 M for securing 2nd and 3rd position respectively. Rashid Mahmood (Pakistan Navy) was declared as the best player of the tournament and awarded Rs 50,000/-. Aleem Bilal (WAPDA) and Ali Umair (SNGPL) were declared the best scorer and the best goal keeper respectively and were awarded the cash prize of Rs 25,000/- each.

The Chief Guest congratulated the winning teams and applauded the efforts put in by the Patron PN Hockey (Central), Punjab Sports Board (PSB), Pakistan Hockey Federation (PHF) and sponsors. He hoped that this tournament will certainly contribute in raising the public interest in the national game. While interacting with media, Vice Chief of Naval Staff appreciated the role played by the media in promotions of sports especially the wide coverage given to 2nd Chief of the Naval Staff All Pakistan Hockey Tournament 2018. Vice Admiral Kaleem Shaukat also urged the public and private departments/ organizations to come forward and help in revival of the national games.

Pakistan Navy has always strived for the promotion of sports in the country. Keeping in view the glorious past of Pakistan Hockey, Pakistan Navy stands committed to contribute towards bringing back our lost glory in the field of hockey. Therefore, Pakistan Navy has taken an initiative for the revival of the national game in collaboration with Pakistan Hockey Federation. This event is 2nd of its kind which would continue in the coming years and is expected to play its part in providing fuel for a kick-start revival process. A large number of dignitaries including legend hockey players and students from school/ colleges/ universities witnessed the matches.

33 United States Universities visit Karachi to Promote Higher Education Opportunities in Pakistan

Karachi, October 07, 2018 (PPI-OT): To promote higher education opportunities for Pakistani students, representatives of 33 U.S. universities travelled to Karachi this week to host the biggest U.S. College Fair in Pakistan from Oct 7 – 8. The 13th biannual South Asia Tour provided thousands of Pakistani students, parents, counsellors, and local university officials from Sindh with an opportunity to explore a wide array of academic programs and receive first-hand guidance on applying for admission.

“We are fortunate to have representatives from over thirty three American colleges and universities here today to recruit local students. That’s the most that have visited Pakistan in recent years, and it shows that our colleges realize how many excellent students there are in Pakistan. The institutions represented here also showcase the diversity of American higher education. No matter your interests, you can find a good match among our thousands of excellent colleges and universities,” said JoAnne Wagner, United States Consul General in Karachi.

This year, EducationUSA Pakistan at the United States Educational Foundation in Pakistan (USEFP) hosted the largest group of U.S. university representatives to ever visit Pakistani schools and universities. Of these 38 U.S. universities visiting Pakistan, 17 were visiting for the first time. Consul Generals of Indonesia, Afghanistan visits Orchid Schooling System

Karachi, October 07, 2018 (PPI-OT): The Consul General of the Republic of Indonesia Mr. Totok Prianamto and the Consul General of Afghanistan Mr. Hamidullah Tarin along with his team visited The Orchid School Education System, Clifton campus yesterday, which is one of the product line of Medicam Group of Companies.

According to details, Honorary Consul General of both the countries were welcomed by the Chairman Medicam Group of Companies, Mr. Khalil Ahmed Nainitalwala, Head of Operations Mr. Khurram Nainitalwala and the School Faculty members.

Talking to journalists, Indonesian Consul General said that everyone strives to get a quality education for earning a better livelihood and it is commendable initiative taken by Medicam group for spreading education throughout Pakistan. Consul General of Afghanistan Mr. Hamidullah Tarin appreciating the infrastructure and other activities of The Orchid School said that a healthy learning environment is vital for a long term success and development.

Chairman Medicam Group of Companies, Mr. Khalil Ahmed Nainitalwala said that in today’s era it is very important to inculcate the habit of knowledge based learning in children alongwith its practical implications. ‘Medicam group is doing a great job for promoting education of international standard’, he added.

Six motorbike lifters held; 13 stolen bikes recovered in last 10 days

Islamabad, October 07, 2018 (PPI-OT): Islamabad Saddar Zone police have arrested six motorbike lifters from different areas of Tarnol, Ramna and Shalimar Police stations and have recovered 13 motorbikes from their possession in last 10 days, a police spokesman said on Sunday. He said on special directions of Senior-Superintendent of Police (Operations) Syed Muhammad Amin Bukhari, SP Saddar Zone Muhammad Umar Khan constituted special teams to arrest those involved in street crimes and motorbike lifters.

During crackdown against them PS Ramna has arrested motorbike thief namely identified as Nasir s/o Allah Ditta and has recovered eight stolen motorbikes from his possession. Shalimar police station team has arrested two culprits namely Shahryar s/o Latif and Junaid s/o Javed involved in motorbike lifting and has recovered four stolen bikes.

Furthermore, teams of Tarnol police station during crackdown has arrested three bike lifters identified as Zeeshan, Asif and Bahadur and has recovered one stolen bike from them. Further investigation is underway from these arrested bike lifters and hope for more recovery.

SSP (Operations) has appreciated the performance of Saddar zone police and further ordered to all zonal police officers to start special crackdown against street criminals and motorbike/vehicle lifters. He ordered all officers to remain in their area, brief officers about nature of their duty to remain vigilant.

Punjab Chief Minister presides over a high-level meeting at chief minister’s office to review the development programme of under-developed areas of south Punjab

Lahore, October 07, 2018 (PPI-OT): Punjab Chief Minister Sardar Usman Buzdar presided over a high-level meeting at the chief minister’s office to review the development programme of the under-developed areas of south Punjab and to discuss projects to be undertaken in the current fiscal budget for the uplift of the people of the area. Addressing the meeting, the chief minister said that the government will work with holistic strategy to provide basic facilities to the people of remote areas as it is their right to have access to education, health, infrastructure and clean drinking water and the PTI government will ensure that the people of less developed areas get access to these facilities.

He said that the ongoing development schemes would be completed on priority and negligence would not be tolerated. He said that strict action would be taken against those found responsible for any delay or negligence. The chief minister directed that the development projects be completed timely. He said that maximum relief would be provided to the people in the upcoming budget despite limited resources but welfare of the common man is top priority. He said that the upcoming would not be based on fudging of figures rather it would reflect the government’s development work within resources.

He said that development of under developed areas would be a key part of the coming budget and all possible steps would be taken to bring improvement in water, heath, education and other social sectors. He said that such policies would be formulated in the budget having trickle down effect and the wrong policies of the previous government would be rectified. He said that the first budget of the PTI government would reflect real change and it would not set unrealistic targets like the previous government. He said that the set targets would be achieved by the end of the fiscal year.

He said that the previous rulers increased plight of the people of remote areas by setting unrealistic development targets. He said that PTI government’s budget focuses on common man and it will work for the people and its budget would reflect the manifesto of PTI. He said that more focus would be given on provision of basic facilities to the people of the province. He said that practical steps, not slogans, would be visible in the coming budget.

He said that prosperity and development of the people of south Punjab is part of PTI manifesto and the coming budget would bring welfare for the people of south Punjab. He said that people would be provided relief by staying in own resources and steps would be taken to curtail unnecessary expenses. The secretaries of concerned departments and other high ups attended the meeting.

Lahore, October 07, 2018 (PPI-OT): Prime Minister Imran Khan has praised the ongoing campaign against land mafia and encroachments, spearheaded by Punjab Chief Minister Sardar Usman Buzdar, in the provincial cabinet meeting and said that the operation should be carried out against the strong mafia not against the poor living in shanties.

The chief minister informed that he has reduced expenses of CM office, which were 5.5 million per month in the previous government tenure to 0.9 million per month. The prime minister said that he is glad that the chief minister has reduced the expenses but the people should also be informed of the achievement because people want to know such feats.
