Minister for Irrigation takes notice of shortage of water in Mangio and Khuhawar canals

Karachi, July 09, 2018 (PPI-OT): Provincial Caretaker minister for Irrigation, Public Health Engineering and Rural Development, Inter Provincial Coordination and Excise and Taxation Mushtaq Ahmed Shah has taken notice of growers protest regarding shortage of the water in Mangio and Khuhawar canals and asked the Xen concerned to immediately redress the issue and take appropriate action against Irrigation officials if they are found involved in selling water. He said that he would not tolerate corrupt practices in the department and corrupt officials would be taken to task.

Massive drive against water theft is in full swing in Sindh: Mushtaq Shah

Karachi, July 09, 2018 (PPI-OT): On the directives of the Provincial Caretaker Minister for Irrigation, Public Health Engineering and Rural Development, Inter Provincial Coordination and Excise and Taxation Mushtaq Ahmed Shah, a massive drive against water theft is in full swing across the province. In this regard Rangers, Police and Officers of Irrigation Department Sindh conducted a joint operation against illegal water connections and water theft in Benazirabad and registered a case against four accused.

Similarly a joint team also removed 59 illegal water lines in Sukkur, seven in Sanghar and 59 Khairpur as well and registered the cases against those who were found guilty of stealing water from water courses. In this regard the Caretaker minister For Irrigation, Public Health Engineering and Rural Development, Inter Provincial Coordination and Excise and Taxation Mushtaq Ahmed Shah, in a statement issued here on Monday, has warned the water thieves to avoid breaking water modules in either case a strict action will be taken against them. ‘No one will be allowed to steal water, no matter how much influential one may be’, he concluded.

Launch of Pakistan Remote Sensing Satellite-1 and Pakistan Technology Evaluation Satellite-1A

Islamabad, July 09, 2018 (PPI-OT): Today, Pakistan launched the Remote Sensing Satellite-1 (PRSS-1) at 0857 hours (PST) by LM-2C/SMA launch vehicle from Jiuquan Satellite Center, China. The 1,200 kg satellite PRSS-1 will operate at an altitude of 640 km. The satellite will enable Pakistan to meet its imagery requirements in the areas of land mapping, agriculture classification and assessment, urban and rural planning, environmental monitoring, natural disaster management and water resource management for socio-economic development of the country.

Another flagship satellite, Pakistan Technology Evaluation Satellite-1A (PakTES-1A) indigenously designed and developed by SUPARCO’s engineers, has also been co-launched with PRSS-1 by the same launch vehicle. PakTES-1A is a 285 kg satellite equipped with an optical payload commensurate with national needs. It has a design life of three years and will operate at an altitude of 610 km. The successful implementation of PRSS-1 and PakTES-1A projects has further strengthened the space cooperation between Pakistan and China for future collaborations.

The President and Prime Minister of Islamic Republic of Pakistan have congratulated the nation on this historic event and appreciated SUPARCO’s scientists and engineers for their technical excellence and untiring efforts. Pakistan is fully committed to China Pakistan Economic Corridor: Dr. Shamshad Akhtar

Arab League chief meets Chinese VP in Beijing

Cairo (UNA-OIC) � Secretary General of the Arab League Ahmed Aboul-Gheit, who is in Beijing to attend ministerial meetings ahead of the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation (FOCAC), met Monday with Chinese Vice President Wang Qishan.

In a statement issued in Cairo, Arab League spokesman Mahmoud Afifi said the two sides discussed means to boost Sino-Arab relations in the coming stage, based on the historical and long-established relationships between China and Arab countries. He added that the meeting also addressed the current international and Arab developments.

Afifi expressed the secretary general’s appreciation of China for its strong support for the Palestinian cause, and for the Chinese technical assistance to a number of Arab states.

The Arab world is looking forward to enhancing its relationship with China at the economic and political levels, Aboul-Gheit told Wang.

For his part, the Chinese vice president hailed the good relations between his country and the Arab world. He pointed out that China fully supports efforts exerted to achieve security and stability in the Arab world and to reach a comprehensive and just settlement to the Palestinian question.
