JazzCash and Bank Alfalah Securing Funds Transfer across Pakistan

Karachi, January 05, 2018 (PPI-OT):In an industry first move, JazzCash and Bank Alfalah are set to empower its customers to transfer funds to people’s CNIC through Alfalah Internet Banking. The service known as ‘Pay Anyone’ will enable people across Pakistan to collect funds sent on their CNIC from JazzCash agents. The service allows Bank Alfalah customers to transfer up to PKR 50,000 monthly.

Aniqa Afzal Sandhu, Chief Digital and Financial Services Officer – Jazz, “JazzCash is a pioneer in aiding customers with the financial services that meet their needs. With the launch of ‘Pay Anyone’ with Bank Alfalah, we move one step further towards our ambition to build safe, sustainable bridges between the unbanked and banked population of Pakistan.”

Mehreen Ahmed, Group Head Retail Banking – Bank Alfalah said “Bank Alfalah takes pride in staying at the fore front, when it comes to technology, by offering innovative financial solutions. This partnership with JazzCash aims at enhancing access to financial services to un-banked population of the country along with safe and convenient transfer of funds from banked to un-banked consumers.”

Alfalah Customers will log into Alfalah Internet Banking and click on ‘Pay Anyone’, then enter details i.e. CNIC, mobile number and amount. Receiving side customer can then collect the cash from any JazzCash Biometric agent in Pakistan. In the future JazzCash and Bank Alfalah will expand the service to Alfa – Bank Alfalah’s mobile app.

Stakeholders Consultative Session for Strategic Trade Policy Framework 2018-23

Karachi, January 05, 2018 (PPI-OT):Ministry of Commerce and Textile, Trade Development Authority of Pakistan and USAID jointly organized consultative sessions for formulating Strategic Trade Policy Framework 2018-23 with stakeholders. The first consultative session has been held at Marriott Hotel Karachi – which was chaired by Secretary Commerce, Mohammad Younus Dagha. The representative from FPCCI, KCCI, KATI, PLGMEA, PTA, KWCCI, Landhi Association, APFEA and other trade Associations attended the consultative sessions and put forward their proposals for incorporation in upcoming STPF 2018-23.

All stakeholders including Chamber of Commerce and trade associations will be consulted and their proposals will be solicited which after due consideration by MOC will be made a part of upcoming Trade Policy (2018-23), for industrial growth and enhancement of exports from Pakistan.

The objective of theses consultative sessions is identification of issues from stakeholder’s viewpoint -which affects the industry and exports from Pakistan and coming up with elaborate Trade Policy-which could benefit the trade in the long run.

The consultative session will also continue on Saturday, where the representatives from around 42 trade associations, joint chamber of Commerce and academia have been invited. More consultative sessions will also be held in big export centers viz Lahore, Multan, Sialkot, and Faisalabad for consultation with stakeholders.

Top CEO’s and leaders converge at Telenor Campus, Discuss business challenges in the new digital age

Islamabad, January 05, 2018 (PPI-OT):Country’s foremost digital service provider Telenor Pakistan in association with Corporate Pakistan Group (CPG), a coalition of corporate leaders, hosted an exclusive forum led by Stephen Brobst, the global Chief Technology Officer (CTO) Teradata Corporation, on digitization and leadership in the digital age. This session is in line with Telenor Pakistan’s emphasis on becoming a hub of leadership, innovation and collaboration.

Held at Telenor Pakistan’s new flagship campus 345, the event was attended by over 100 participants including 50 business and technology leaders, parliamentarians, senior ministry officials and entrepreneurs. The talk shed light on the crucial role data and analytics have started to play in a business’ success and survival in the recent times. Building on the premise that global business investments in Data and Analytics (D and A) will surpass $200 billion a year by 2020, the talk ventured to answer such fundamental questions as: What are the new business best practices? How do you integrate D and A into your organization’s DNA? How can big problems be solved by big data? How are the fortune 500 businesses exploiting the data opportunity?

Mr. Irfan Wahab Khan, CEO, Telenor Pakistan, spoke to the gathering about technology and innovation with examples of how Telenor has transitioned into Pakistan’s primary digital lifestyle partner by making innovation a part of its working culture. Mr. Naeem Zamindar, Chairman, Board of Investment (BOI), spoke on the importance of learning what investors think about opportunities in Pakistan and how to capitalize on that insight. In his closing remarks Senator Mushahid Hussain Syed emphasized the role of international investment in Pakistan’s growing tech market and overall economy, highlighting the government’s eagerness in adopting technology solutions.

The keynote speaker, Mr. Stephen Brobst, shared his experience working with leading Fortune 500 companies across the world and on data challenges which keep the best CEOs up at night. Part of the talk which grabbed the most attention from the audience was the discussion around leadership and digital Transformation. Mr. Brobst also told the audience how the companies who are resistant to this change will eventually cease to be relevant and that demise may not be much far. According to him, data was the key to success and survival for all industries and will redefine the way of doing business in today’s new age.

The event provided participants with leading opinions and opportunity to meet international dignitaries, movers and shakers of the local business scene and Telenor management. The pool of industry leaders shared best practices from the Silicon Valley and Pakistan with the participants, indulging them in insightful discussions on innovation, governance, and leadership in the data age with real-life examples and case studies.

CPEC is the road to economic development: Rana Afzal

Islamabad, January 05, 2018 (PPI-OT):CPEC is the road to economic development and prosperity; not only for Pakistan and China but also for the whole region. It will bring economic opportunities for different countries in the region. This was stated by Minister of State for Finance and Economic Affairs, Rana Muhammad Afzal Khan while speaking as chief guest at the seminar “Belt and Road Initiative and Regional Development” jointly organized by Preston University and Institute of Peace and Diplomatic Studies here Friday.

The Minister spoke at length on the positive role that CPEC will play towards the strengthening of Pakistan’s economy and added that the energy projects under CPEC will specially boost economic activities. The Minister stated Pakistan has rendered countless sacrifices in the war on terror and waged a valiant struggle to eliminate the scourge of militancy.

Pakistan’s sacrifices should never be forgotten. Pakistan he said aims for a great future for the whole region. The Minister also on the occasion gave away souvenirs among participants and organizers of the seminar. Earlier professionals and experts from different institutions gave detailed presentations on the significance of “Belt and Road Initiative and Regional Development”.

Daraz website records 151 million visits in 2017
