Srinagar, December 06, 2015 (PPI-OT): In occupied Kashmir, a court in Srinagar deferred cross examination of Prosecution Witness (PW) number 13 in Showkat Kataria fake encounter case of 2006. Advocate Mohammad Amin Rathore, the counsel for former SSP of Ganderbal, Hans Raj Parihar who is one of the culprits in the matter, said the court of principal district and session’s judge adjourned the matter and listed it for next hearing on December 8.“The PW could not turn up for his cross examination although all the culprits in the matter were present before the court,” said Advocate Rathore.

On November 28, the court had heard and recorded statement of caretaker of a mosque where Kataria, a cleric from Banihal, whose body was buried in a nearby graveyard after being killed in a fake encounter in 2006. On October 13, the court had heard and recorded statements of two brothers of Kataria who would lead five times congregational prayers in a mosque at Alamgari Bazaar.

Showkat Kataria, 25, son of Noor Alam Kataria, 75, a resident of Doligam-Jabdi-Banihall went missing at around 10:00 pm on October 4, 2006 from Alamgari Bazaar where he would lead prayers in Ibrahim Mosque.
