16 youth killed, 200 injured in IOK

Srinagar, July 10, 2016 (PPI-OT):In occupied Kashmir, death toll in firing by Indian troops on protesters has risen to 16, while over 200 have been injured, so far.

With a fresh incident of firing on protesters in Pulwama, today, one more youth has been killed, bringing the toll to 16 since the killing of commander of Hizbul Mujahideen, Burhan Muzaffar Wani by Indian troops in Kokernag area of Islamabad district on Friday.

Police opened fire early morning in Murran area of Pulwama district to break a demonstration as people defied curfew restrictions. One youth Irfan Ahmed Malik of Nehama was seriously injured and later succumbed to injuries in hospital. Earlier in the night three people who had been seriously injured in firing incidents on Saturday succumbed to injuries in SMHS Hospital taking toll to 16. “Now 16 people are confirmed dead and over 200 injured”, an official confirmed in a media interview.
