13 projects of 1322MW wind power approved for starting work on fast track basis in Sindh

Karachi: A committee of Sindh Board of Investment has cleared 13 projects generating 1322MW electricity through wind power plants in Thatta and Jamshoro districts and the sponsors have agreed to start the work on seven projects on fast track basis that would produce 690MW power. A meeting for the rest of six projects of 632MW would be held on January 06, 2012.

This information was given to federal minister for water and power Syed Naveed Qamar who visited the office of Sindh Chief Secretary Raja Muhammad Abbas on Saturday. Senior Member Board of Revenue Sindh Shahzar Shamoon, Secretary Board of
Investment Muhammad Younus Dagha and Area Energy Development Board representative Arif Allauddin were also present in the meeting.

The meeting was informed that following a decision to accord priority to those financers who are willing to launch project on fast track basis, the team of surveyors of AEDB, officials of district administration and revenue department visited Thatta and Jamshoro districts and identified the lands for projects. The report in this regard had already been sent to federal minister on November 22, 2011.
