Emirates launches services to Sialkot, its fifth destination in Pakistan

Sialkot, November 06, 2013 (PPI-OT): Emirates, a global connector of people and places today launched services to Sialkot, its fifth destination in Pakistan. Emirates will operate four weekly flights with an Airbus A330-200 aircraft in a two-class configuration, offering 54 seats in Business Class and 183 in Economy Class.

The inaugural flight EK620 departed from Terminal 3, Dubai International at 04.15 hours and touched down at 08.20hours local time. Onboard was a delegation including His Excellency Essa El Basha Al Nuaimi, UAE Ambassador for Pakistan; Ashfaq Ahmed Chaudhry, Chairman Sialkot International Airport; Khawar Anwar Khawaja, Chief Executive Grays of Cambridge (Pakistan) and member for both Sialkot International Airport Limited and Chamber of Commerce; Salah Al Ansari, Director, Visitor Information Bureaus – Department of Tourism and Commerce Marketing; Ahmed Khoory, Emirates’ Senior Vice President Commercial Operations – West Asia and Indian Ocean and Khalid Bardan, Vice President Pakistan and Afghanistan.

“Pakistan was the first country Emirates flew to just over 28 years ago”, said Ahmed Khoory, Emirates’ Senior Vice President Commercial Operations, West Asia and Indian Ocean. “Since then the airline has steadily grown its network and continued to link the Pakistani community to the UAE as well as to worldwide destinations, making it easier to connect with friends, family and trade opportunities. Dubai and Pakistan have very close links due to the large community of Pakistanis living in the region and the level of trade between the UAE and Pakistan.”

“Sialkot International Airport is Pakistan’s first privately owned airport”, said Ashfaq Ahmed Chaudhry, Chairman of Sialkot International Airport. “Having Emirates commence operations here will boost the regional economy, and offers Emirates passengers a convenient new entry point to Pakistan through our modern and efficiently run facility.”

Sialkot is the capital of Sialkot District located in the north-east of the Punjab province in Pakistan. Situated around 125 kilometres north of Lahore, it provides Emirates’ customers with an alternative gateway to the Export Triangle of Pakistan – the area encompassing Gujrat, Sialkot and Gujranwala.

The city is renowned as a key manufacturing base particularly for sports goods and clothing, gloves, surgical instruments, cutlery, ceramics and leather garments. The Emirates A330-200 operating the Sialkot service can carry up to 17 tonnes of cargo, giving a boost to trade opportunities.

Emirates flight EK620 departs Dubai at 04:15 hours and arrives in Sialkot at 08:20 hours on Tuesdays, Thursdays, Saturdays and Sundays. The return flight EK621 leaves Sialkot at 09:45 hours, arriving in Dubai at 12:35 hours. Emirates’ flights from Sialkot connect seamlessly through the airline’s global hub in Dubai to key business and leisure destinations such as the UK, continental Europe and the Middle East.

The Emirates Group employs over 4,000 Pakistanis across its business divisions, including 86 Cabin Crew, 17 Pilots and a team of over 230 based in Pakistan. The airline operates 66 flights a week to Pakistan including four to Sialkot, 35 to Karachi, 11 each to Lahore and Islamabad and five to Peshawar.

Emirates to Fly A380 Twice a Day to New York

Karachi, June 28, 2012 (PPI-OT): Emirates, one of the world’s fastest-growing international airlines, is to further boost its fast-growing US network with the start of a second daily A380 service to New York JFK.

From 1st January 2013, EK203 from Dubai to JFK, and its return sector EK204, will become A380 flights, offering an increased capacity of almost 1,000 additional seats in both directions every week. The service is currently operated by a Boeing 777-300ER.

“Emirates is experiencing very high demand for its New York flights and the start of a daily A380 service to JFK will enable us to offer more choice for our customers to benefit from the Emirates A380 experience,” said Thierry Antinori, Executive Vice President of Passenger Sales Worldwide. “Given the popularity of this giant aircraft, known for its quietness, spaciousness and award-winning on-board product, we are confident that this news will be well-received by our customers travelling to 17 destinations in the Middle East, 21 African destinations including major hubs in east Africa, 20 destinations in the Far East and Australasia and 10 destinations in India.”

“We have continued to invest in our services by increasing our capacity to build on the resurgent demand for air travel within the United States and we are seeing this strategy pay dividends. Further investment in our hub, with the opening of the world’s first dedicated A380 concourse – C3 – will coincide with the second JFK A380 service,” continued Mr Antinori.

Commenting on the service, Badr Abbas, Vice President, Pakistan and Afghanistan said: “The addition in seats to New York will allow travelers greater flexibility to manage their schedules. We at Emirates remains committed to its customers and hope to provide more opportunities to facilitate easier and better travel experience.”

Spread over two decks, the remarkably quiet aircraft provides 399 seats in Economy Class, 76 flat beds in Business Class and 14 First Class Private Suites – next to two Onboard Shower Spas. Available to all premium class passengers on the upper deck is a popular Onboard Lounge, offering space to unwind, enjoy a drink and socialise with fellow passengers.

Amongst its 175 aircraft in operation, Emirates has the world’s largest fleet of A380s with 21 which currently serve Auckland, Bangkok, Beijing, Hong Kong, Jeddah, Johannesburg, Kuala Lumpur, London Heathrow, Manchester, Munich, New York JFK, Paris, Rome, Seoul, Shanghai, Sydney and Toronto. Tokyo and Amsterdam will join the A380 network in July and August respectively.

Winner of over 500 international awards, Emirates’ unique service offering includes complimentary chauffeur-driven airport transfers for premium customers and an in-flight entertainment system featuring over 1,200 channels of new release Hollywood movies, TV, music and games.

The Emirates Lounge at JFK Airport was named one of the Top Airport Lounges in North America by Frommer’s Travel Guides in 2011. The lounge, which is available to First Class and Business Class customers as well as Skywards Gold members, offers a spacious and luxurious seating area, a selection of fine food and beverages to suit any palate, shower facilities, complimentary massages and a fully-equipped Business Centre with independent work stations and complimentary broadband and wireless internet access.

Customers travelling to and from the United States can also benefit from Emirates’ partnerships with Jet Blue, American Airlines, Virgin America and Alaska Airlines. Passengers connecting to or from Emirates’ U.S. flights from these airlines will enjoy a range of benefits, including one-stop check in and checked through baggage.

From 1st January 2013, Flight EK203 will be operated by an A380 aircraft departing Dubai (DXB) at 02:00, arriving New York (JFK) at 07:20 the same day. EK204 departs JFK at 1040, arriving Dubai at 08:10 the following day.

So far in 2012, Emirates has launched two new U.S. gateways – Dallas/Fort Worth and Seattle. Flights to Washington Dulles International Airport will start on 12th September.

Emirates’ network currently encompasses 124 cities globally. So far this year, the airline has started services to Dublin, Rio de Janeiro, Buenos Aires, Dallas/Fort Worth, Seattle, Lusaka, Harare and Ho Chi Minh City. Flights to Barcelona and Lisbon will join the Emirates’ network on July 3rd and July 9th respectively, while flights to Erbil, Iraq will start on 12th August.

Emirates carries New Friends for Children

Karachi, June 21, 2012 (PPI-OT): Emirates, one of the world’s fastest-growing international airlines, has introduced a collection of onboard toys for children which is set to launch on June 25, 2012. These young globalistas can now enjoy the company of new travel companions which have two ranges of toys aimed at pre-school and older children, the travel experience has been further refined by Emirateto enable young passengers to have an entertaining, memorable journey.

Emirates airline has been a popular choice for many Pakistanis with tiny tots heading abroad for their summer holidays. Pre-school children can look forward to collecting a range of original monster characters from the ‘Fly With Me Monster’ collection.

Emirates Announces Codeshare with JetBlue

Karachi: Emirates customers travelling from Pakistan to the United States will soon enjoy seamless connections to a dozen U.S. cities, after the airline announced the start of a one-way codeshare with JetBlue.

The codeshare will further strengthen the relationship between Emirates and JetBlue. The two airlines have been interline partners since 2010, enabling customers to enjoy the convenience of a single combined ticket for Emirates and JetBlue-operated flights, plus other benefits including one-stop check-in and baggage transfer.

“Emirates’ network within the United States will soon extend to almost 20 cities through our partner JetBlue, making flying to the U.S smoother and more convenient than ever before,” said Thierry Antinori, Executive Vice President of Passenger Sales Worldwide. “JetBlue shares our passion for innovation and best-in-class services, and we look forward to continuing to grow the relationship as we seek new ways to build our presence within the United States,” continued Mr Antinori.

Emirates customers can connect to JetBlue services at New York’s JFK Airport. As a one-way codeshare, an Emirates’ flight number will be placed on JetBlue services to the following cities: Boston (BOS), Burlington (BTV), Buffalo (BUF), Charlotte (CLT), Chicago (ORD), Fort Lauderdale (FLL), Jacksonville (JAX), Orlando (MCO), Portland, Maine (PWM), Raleigh/Durham (RDU), Tampa (TPA) and Washington Dulles (IAD).

‘This is exciting news for all Pakistani’s travelling to the United States as their itineraries usually consist of visits to multiple cities within the country. At JFK Airport, Emirates operates from Terminal 4 while JetBlue operates from the adjacent, 26-gate Terminal 5, allowing for easy connections between flights. In addition, the Quick Connect service available at JFK makes transfers even more hassle-free.

Available to all customers with a confirmed onward flight departing within three hours of their Emirates’ flight arrival, Quick Connect enables customers to advance to the head of a specially designated passenger security checkpoint lane at their connecting terminals. The service also extends to baggage, with Emirates arranging the transfer of baggage on to the connecting flights.

Emirates currently offers two daily non-stop flights to JFK – including service aboard its flagship Airbus A380 and its ultra-long range Boeing 777-300ER.
