Consulate General of Switzerland celebrates 725th Swiss National Day and 69th Pakistani Independence Day, together!

This year the Consulate General of Switzerland in Karachi is celebrating the 725th National Day of Switzerland and the 69th Independence Day of Pakistan, together!

Cherishing the strong bilateral relations of both countries, the Consulate General of Switzerland in Karachi is organizing an interesting competition, in which people from all walks of life can participate and win exciting prizes.

To enter the competition, participants can send in their own creative contributions regarding Switzerland and Pakistan (photographs, postage stamps…) along with their Name, CNIC #, Mobile # and Postal Address through Facebook Messenger by 31 July.

After completing two years term Consul General of Switzerland meets Governor Sindh and thanked him and people of Sindh for this exceptional hospitality

Karachi, May 17, 2016 (PPI-OT):After completing two years term, the Consul General (CG) of Switzerland in Karachi – Mr. Emil Wyss met the Governor of Sindh – Dr. Ishratul Ibad Khan, and thanked him and the people of Sindh for this exceptional hospitality.

Over the week-end the CG along with his wife visited the Mausoleum of the Quaid-e-Azam, Muhammad Ali Jinnah. The Swiss envoy then paid a good-bye visit to Mr. Abdul Sattar Edhi at the Sindh Institute of urology and Transplantation (SIUT). Later the Swiss couple met with special children at the Dar-ul-Sakun, and then donated blood for thalassemia major children at the Afzaal Memorial Thalassemia Foundation (AMTF). Just before final departure from Pakistan, the National Staff of the Consulate General bid him farewell.

The CG, Mr. Emil Wyss has been posted at the Consul General of Switzerland in Los Angeles. His successor in Karachi, Mr. Philippe Crevoisier will take charge in September. In the interim period, Mr. Jordan James Din, Deputy Head of Post / Head of Commercial Section will be the acting Head of Post.

Karachi bids farewell to Swiss Consul General Emil Wyss

Karachi, May 04, 2016 (PPI-OT):In the presence of 1’291 guests, who came from all over Pakistan and abroad to say good bye, the Consul General of Switzerland – Mr. Emil Wyss along with his wife thanked everyone for the exceptional hospitality, kind collaboration, and valuable support during two years tenure in Karachi.

Present among other dignitaries were Chief Executive Officer of Trade Development of Pakistan – Mr. S. M. Muneer, Speaker Sindh Assembly – Mr. Agha Siraj Durrani, Adviser to Sindh Chief Minister – Mrs. Sharmila Farooqui, Provincial Minister for Food – Mr. Nasir Hussain Shah, Commissioner Karachi – Mr. Syed Asif Hyder Shah, Senior Representative of MQM – Mr. Farooq Sattar, British Deputy High Commissioner in Karachi, Consul Generals of France, Germany, Iran, Russia, Turkey, U.S., Consul of Italy, and Honorary Consul Generals of many countries. Leading businessmen, senior journalists, media celebrities, and representatives of academic institutions and NGOs were as well present.

At the event, which was the largest diplomatic function held in Karachi’s recent history; Mr. Wyss presented his successor – Mr. Philippe Crevoisier who will assume office in September. Mr. Wyss will also take his charge as the Consul General of Switzerland in Los Angeles in August 2016. Before his departure, the Consul General and his wife will pay visit to the mausoleum of the Founder of the Pakistani Nation – Mr. Muhammad Ali Jinnah, witness Karachi’s famous donkey cart race, and donate blood.

Swiss Consul General leaving Karachi to assume his new responsibilities in Los Angeles

Karachi, April 29, 2016 (PPI-OT):After completing his term as Consul General of Switzerland, Mr. Emil Wyss along with his wife is leaving Karachi to assume his new responsibilities as Consul General in Los Angeles. Some of the Consulate General’s important projects during his tenure include: 1) furthering business to business contact through 100 days and nights “Pakistan-Switzerland Friendship Exhibition” at the Karachi International Airport – the first of its kind to be held in the country, 2)participation in over 100 social welfare events, and 3) promotion of traditional Pakistani truck art. In these two years, through its official Facebook page (/SwissConsulateKarachi), the Consulate General from 7,000 followers reached to over 140,000 from all around the world.

Pakistan- Switzerland bilateral trade in 2015 surged by 10percent: Consulate General

Karachi, April 07, 2016 (PPI-OT):According to Swiss Customs Administration latest statistics, the bilateral trade volume between Pakistan and Switzerland during 2015 has increased by almost 10% (total CHF 416 Million). Main factors of this growth are Swiss machines exports to Pakistan that rose by 25% as well as increase in Pakistan textile exports to Switzerland (although not under European Union’s GSP Plus regime).

Over the past decade, Swiss companies have invested more than CHF 1.5 Billion in Pakistan. It also merits to mention that despite the Swiss National Bank’s decision, in January 2015, to discontinue CHF to Euro minimum exchange rate, Switzerland global exports stood at CHF 203 Billion with a trade surplus of CHF 36 Billion.
