Emirates hosts workshop for travel agents

Karachi: Emirates Airline hosted a special workshop for travel agents. The ‘Travel Agents’ Product Update Workshop’ was held at a centrally located venue, The Banquet, near the PACC, and served to provide very useful updates to travel agents from all over the city.

The workshop was cleverly designed with participants divided into nine groups with fifteen individuals in each group. These teams attended a range of souk-style presentations made by the following participating departments: Corporate Team, Contact Centre, Skywards, Sales Support and Pricing, Airport Services, Finance, Ticket Office and Emirates Holidays.

The objective of this interaction was to bring together Emirates and the local travel industry so that employees could meet face-to-face all those who are in communication with them all day via email and telephone. This would help employees streamline everyday business activities, share best practices and simply explain Emirates’ ways of working in a conducive and relaxed environment.

The ambience suited the mood, with a large area decorated as a ‘souk’ or marketplace which served as the networking area. Sharing his thoughts on this novel manner of communication, Badr Abbas, Vice President Emirates Airline Pakistan and Afghanistan, said, “Workshops like these do not only seek to inform but the purpose is to enhance interaction by putting a face to the name. Here, travel agents get to know Emirates personnel from various departments and interact with them on a professional as well as a personal level.” These souk-style presentations were then followed by dinner.

Since its inception over two decades ago, Emirates has become one of the world’s leading and fastest growing airlines. With a fleet of over 162 aircraft, flying to 116 destinations across six continents, its success is firmly rooted in the commitment to innovation and quality.

This commitment has earned Emirates over 500 major international awards for the quality of its inflight cuisine, the breadth of its inflight entertainment and excellence of overall service; thus heralding a new era in luxury travel.

The IMV series consist of five vehicles—three pickup trucks (Including two series of Hilux which are well known in Pakistan), a minivan, and an SUV—specially developed in 2004 for introduction to over 140 countries and regions. Based on the concept of producing vehicles where they are sold, TMC has established an optimal worldwide production and supply system to quickly offer attractive vehicles at an affordable price to consumers around the world.

Concerning the milestone, TMC Managing Officer Kazuhiro Kobayashi, who played a central role in the project, said: “The aim of this project is to offer high-quality vehicles to consumers in a timely manner. I am very pleased that IMV sales have reached 5 million vehicles.”

Currently, the IMV series is manufactured in 11 locations including Pakistan and four countries designated as global IMV supply bases: Thailand, Indonesia, Argentina and South Africa.
